ABOUT US

WEAll Aotearoa is a non-partisan, Te Tiriti led,
people-powered movement
to transform the economic system to a Wellbeing Economy.

Our mission is to redesign the economy around the wellbeing of our people and te taiao.

Why do we need a Wellbeing Economy?

Despite rising levels of GDP we are seeing growing inequality, people are caught in cycles of poverty and despair, unable to find warm and safe housing or to buy healthy kai for the whole family. Nature is groaning under the weight of human exploitation and wasteful behaviour.

Aotearoa is currently exceeding 6 of 9 planetary boundaries.

Two thirds of New Zealanders think that our economy is rigged in favour of the rich and powerful.

The poorest half of New Zealanders own only 2% of the wealth.

Our vision

Our vision is an Aotearoa New Zealand in which the economy ensures the wellbeing of its people and nature, by design - an economy that prioritises dignity, purpose, nature, fairness and participation.

In a Wellbeing Economy, the rules and incentives are designed to ensure everyone has enough to live in comfort, safety, and happiness. People feel secure in their basic comforts and can use their creative energies to support all life on this planet.

In a Wellbeing Economy, humans thrive in a restored, safe, and vibrant natural environment because we have learned to give back as much as we are given. We have a voice over our collective destiny and find belonging, meaning and purpose through genuine connection to the people and planet that sustain us.

A Wellbeing Economy is grounded in place and in Aotearoa we look to mātauranga Māori and economies of mana to help all people in Aotearoa create good lives in a flourishing natural world.
